Biography
Audrey Sung is a dedicated and warm-hearted 15-year-old emerging musician from Vancouver, currently attending Crofton House School. Widely regarded as one of the most exceptional young pianists of her generation, Audrey combines artistic excellence with visionary leadership and social impact. In 2025, she was appointed Executive Director of the Organizing Committee for the PRM Piano Competition – 4th Edition, one of the world’s most prestigious international piano competitions exclusively for musicians under the age of 18. In the same year, she was awarded the title of Young Steinway Artist, becoming the youngest recipient in Vancouver’s history to receive this distinction at the age of 15. Her extraordinary contributions to arts and community service were further recognized with the Vancouver Mayor’s Achievement Award, making her the youngest honouree ever to receive this civic distinction.

Audrey’s piano journey began at age six under the guidance of Steinway Artist and RCM Honorary Fellow Edward Han Jiang, whose emphasis on discipline and artistry shaped her foundational musicianship. During her time living in China, she studied with esteemed instructors including Ms. Eleanor Wong, Dr. Jacqueline Bei-Hua Tang, Professor Liu Shi Kun and Professor Vladimir Viardo, later continuing her advanced training in North America under Edward Jiang. These diverse pedagogical influences have contributed to her refined technique, stylistic depth, and nuanced interpretive voice.
Early recognition of her talent came through major international competitions. Audrey earned the Gold Prize in the Junior Category of the Pacific Rim International Music Festival (PRM) and received the Tchaikovsky Memorial Award at the International Youth Piano Concerto Competition. Her PRM victory led to a debut performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall in 2019. In 2021, she was awarded the Associate of the Royal Schools of Music (ARSM) diploma, underscoring her advanced technical command and musical maturity at a young age.
A major artistic milestone followed in 2024, when Audrey was invited to perform at the 19th Vienna International Music Festival, presenting both a solo recital and a concerto performance at the Musikverein’s Golden Hall. Her performances were praised for their “uncommon sensitivity and precision,” earning wide recognition across European audiences and media. That same year, she was named a Young Steinway Scholar, further affirming her standing within the international Steinway community.
Beyond the concert stage, Audrey’s commitment to philanthropy and civic engagement has been evident from an early age. At just 10 years old, she actively participated in COVID-19 relief initiatives, distributing essential supplies and donating personal funds to frontline organizations—efforts that earned her Hong Kong media recognition as the “Youngest Pandemic Star.” In September 2022, she donated CAD $30,000 from her performance earnings to support Canadian music education, an initiative covered by CTV National News, CTV Vancouver, and Phoenix Satellite Television North America.
Her belief in music as a force for global good continued in July 2024, when she was invited to perform at a charity concert at Kasteel Duivenvoorde in the Netherlands, raising €15,000 for Local-Heroes Netherlands’ Kenyan school development project. The event received strong recognition from local media and philanthropic organizations, reinforcing her role as a young cultural ambassador on the international stage.
With a rare synthesis of artistic authority, organizational leadership, and humanitarian vision, Audrey Sung stands at the forefront of a new generation of classical musicians redefining excellence and responsibility. In 2025, in addition to her appointment as Executive Director of the PRM Piano Competition Organizing Committee and her designation as Vancouver’s youngest Young Steinway Artist, she was honoured with the Vancouver Mayor’s Achievement Award and named a VGH Outstanding Young Ambassador, recognizing her ongoing commitment to serving the community and advancing the role of the arts in public life.
